SOCIALISM & RACISM

The author of the pledge of allegiance supported socialist schools.  The socialist schools he supported were racist schools where segregation was official government policy.  See photo at http://rexcurry.net/stopthepledge4.htm  or below.

Francis Bellamy lived from 1850 to 1931 and wrote the pledge in 1892. He moved to Florida in 1924 and supposedly stopped attending church altogether because he couldn't stand the racism he found between the pulpit and pews.   That was 32 years after he wrote the pledge of allegiance and promoted a government takeover of schools.

Bellamy could stand the racism and segregation between the podium and the desks in socialist schools.  He never used the racism and segregation of government schools to tell anyone to stop attending government schools.

When he supported the government takeover of schools there were already examples of government schools and they were segregated and taught racism as official policy.  He knew that. But he plunged ahead and knowingly institutionalized the racism and the segregation imposed by law in government schools.

In 1924 he was blind to how his acts had perpetuated and expanded racism in churches and everywhere, via government schools.  It is expected that he might disavow the racist results of his acts later in life.

Bellamy should have known that private schools were less racist than government schools that imposed segregation by law.  Did Bellamy believe that racism in churches he attended could be “cured” if government operated churches in the same way that government operated its racist schools?

Every day, segregated children were forced to attend racist government schools where they were forced to collectively perform Bellamy’s degrading salute and a pledge to a flag written by a socialist to glorify government. Any child who did not perform the socialist pledge was expelled. If parents rejected government schools in favor of the many better alternatives, some government school administrators would still harass the families. It was behavior that was later shared by the National Socialist German Workers' Party.

As a libertarian would say, thank goodness he didn't advocate government churches or the same disaster would have resulted as with government schools.

"He was so for the separation of church and state that he was against parochial schools," a relative told a newspaper. "He thought education should be a state matter."
Bellamy believed in the separation of church and state. He lacked the same logical belief in the separation of school and state.  His schools believed in the separation of race and race.  And it resulted in almost a century of official segregation and racist policies.

Even after the socialist segregation ended, the socialist schools continued racist and vicious behavior with forced busing, removing children from their neighborhoods and families, forcing them to government facilities across town, and destroying their local neighborhoods and the support that was provided.

From 1924 to 1931 he lived at 2926 Wallcraft Avenue, Tampa, Florida.  The two-story, Mediterranean-style house is now owned by Richard and Beth Hornstrom.  An elementary school on Wilsky Street in Tampa was named after Bellamy (in 1975).

The court case of Frank Herbert Wonschik v. U.S., argued that the jury selection process was impermissibly tainted by the trial judge's request that all potential jurors stand and recite the Pledge of Allegiance prior to jury selection. Furthermore, that bias also transgressed the Establishment Clause and the Free Exercise Clause of the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.
